WASSSSUUUPPPP!

Hey all,

Just a quick note to say that I'm still alive. I have been hovering in the low 180's but I'm not worried about it. Not worried about it? Yep! Due to my numerous food allergies and problems fully digesting meat protein, I have become vegan. I'm actually a low fat high carb vegan (read 80/10/10) and it is working out great. I have not been obsessing over calories, I look less bloated and I feel good. Been eating as much fruit and veggies as I feel like. I aim for 2400 calories a day if you can believe it. I actually feel the best (and lighter)when I'm at 4,000 calories of ripe and fruity goodness. Crazy right? Especially  since I was able to do 500 calories no sweat. Everyday isn't perfect; some days I'm lower than 2400 calories due to my work schedule. Plus I need to drink more water and remember to take my vitamins, and stop weighing myself everyday but I'm getting there and excited for what the future holds.
Hope everyone is great :)

Yep two posts in a day, I missed blogger!

So I wanted to type out my goals for the month.  I have been lingering between 185 and 181. I was even at 179 two months ago. But once I get to my lowest weight my period starts. Ugh. And after it ends I am no where near the weight I was. Then I start all over and it begins again.  Does anyone else have this issue? It is a frustrating cycle to say the least.
I am contemplating on going back on BCPs. I stopped because I felt bloated all of the time, but TOM was shorter which gave my hormonal weight gain and acne a break. Once I stopped taking BCPs my back broke out and the spots haven't healed, after two years still! I think I need to be checked for PCOS but its hard to find a gyne that lives near me with my insurance. My goal is to go into the new year at 180. It seems to be attainable if I stay away from gluten and corn and workout after work. But I have been craving pretty bad for those no no foods and I am so tired after work. I have popped an old friend of mine to help with energy, and it helps but I know I should take something more natural or maybe not. Plus my TOM starts at the end of the year so my hard work will be circumvented again. Argg...
I think that I need to be on something. If I have PCOS I know exactly what I need medicine wise which would help the weight gain, insulin resistance (my suspisions) and the hormonal acne.
Starting tomorrow I will be treadmilling and walking/jogging my bike path again, but what will I do when I run out of my old friend so that I can have stamina during the work week?

Taken from website http://www.pcos.insulitelabs.com/PCOS-Symptoms.php

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) can be caused by Insulin Resistance and may take the form of numerous symptoms, which vary from woman to woman.
Weight Gain or Inability to Lose Weight. Many women with PCOS gain weight around their abdomen, taking on an apple shape rather than a pear shape. Such weight gain is linked with imbalances of glucose and insulin in the body.

Other women may not necessarily gain weight but find that, no matter how hard they try, they cannot lose any weight. Not every woman with PCOS will have problems with excess weight. In fact, up to half of women with PCOS are lean. Even lean women with PCOS may struggle with high insulin levels or insulin resistance, however.

Absent or Irregular Periods (Amenorrhea or Oligomenorrhea). Nine or few menstrual cycles per year may be a sign of PCOS. Bleeding may be heavier than normal. These conditions are caused because the ovaries are not producing hormones that keep the menstrual cycle regular. Irregular or absent menses indicate that a woman is probably not ovulating.

"
I am only 27 and was really feeling the effects of my IR and PCOS, with terrible lethargy and fearing that I would never get my active life back. I was taking glucophage which did nothing for me but cause stomach and bowel problems. After 2 1/2 weeks on Insulite PCOS, I feel an amazing difference in energy and even a little in my weight.
I am so excited about the positive changes in my health and I can't wait to see where I am six months from now, yet alone the year. Thank you again!"

Insulite Laboratories reverse PCOSInfertility. The high levels of excess insulin seen with PCOS can stimulate the ovaries to produce large amounts of the male hormone (androgens), which can possibly prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg each month, thus causing infertility. Because women with PCOS don't have regular menstrual cycles, many are unable to become pregnant. With help, however, many PCOS sufferers conceive.

Excess Hair Growth (Hirsutism). This symptom causes excess hair, which can be difficult for many women. For most PCOS sufferers, hair in the mustache and beard areas becomes heavier and darker. Masculine-looking hair on the arms and leg is also possible, as well as hair on abdomen, chest or back, together with more growing in the pubic area. High levels of male hormones cause this condition.

Reverse PCOD with Insulite PCOS SYSTEM Thinning Hair. Just as heavier hair growth is possible, so is the type of hair thinning that many men experience. This is caused in women by higher levels of androgens.

Acne. Pimples and oily skin can also bother women with PCOS. The acne is usually found around the face (especially along the jaw line), chest and back.

Ovarian Cysts. The elevation in insulin levels contributes to the formation of cysts in the ovaries in part due to the hormonal imbalances and also because the ovaries are highly sensitive to the influence of insulin. These multiple, immature ovarian cysts, after which the condition was named, are associated with irregular menstruation and trouble conceiving.

Polycystic ovaries are defined as 12 or more follicles in at least one ovary as seen by ultrasound. Follicles are small, fluid-filled sacs containing eggs. In PCOS, the follicles bunch together to form cysts. Note that not every woman with PCOS has polycystic ovaries.

Fatigue. We hear from many women with PCOS who are tired all the time! Fatigue is a common symptom that may be related to PCOS in that insulin resistance can be one cause of reduced energy levels. Furthermore, many women with PCOS also have low thyroid function (hypothyroidism), a very common endocrine condition, which itself causes fatigue.

Other Skin Problems. Skin tags - thick lumps of skin sometimes as large as raisins - can form as a result of PCOS. They are usually found in the armpits, at the bra line or neck and can easily be removed by a dermatologist. Darkening and thickening of the skin can also occur around the neck, groin, underarms or skin folds. This condition, called Acanthosis Nigricans, is a sign of Insulin Resistance, the underlying cause of PCOS. Other women with PCOS note an increase in dandruff.

Insulite Laboratories reverse PCOSMood Swings. Many women with PCOS may find themselves more anxious or depressed by their appearance or their inability to become pregnant. Mood swings can also be caused by hormone problems. Managing your PCOS symptoms may help to relieve depression.

High cholesterol (Hyperlipidemia) and High Blood Pressure (Hypertension). Increased LDL cholesterol, the "bad" cholesterol, is known as a marker for risk of heart attack and stroke. Women with PCOS must pay special attention to their cholesterol levels and also their blood pressure, as both of these markers of heart disease are more prevalent in this community.

Sleep Apnea. Women with PCOS are at risk for sleep apnea. This may be due to the increased BMI (Body Mass Index) in about half of women with PCOS. Another possible reason for the increased prevalence of sleep apnea in women with PCOS is the effects of testosterone on blood vessels.

I don't have all of the symptoms of PCOS and when I take my glucose tests they are normal. But I am suspecting something. TOM has been appearing earlier and earlier for four months now. I will play dectective soon on this issue.

Now time to decorate the apartment with Christams cheer. I hope everyone is well.

Well it's been a year

My computer is up and running again and now it is time to start reflecting. Reflecting back to when I first started to blog and write into my thinspo journal it looks like quite a bit has happened.

What has happened

I am in the low 180's

I found out that my thyroid has been against me all along and its genetic

I have multiple food allergies which help swell me up and break me out

I got a new job back in my old field and I like it

I finished school with a MA degree

Still with the boyfriend

Got a safer car to drive

I can jog three miles with no problem

I have found natural supplements that help with my energy and allergies

I love juicing my fruits and veggies

I took control of my own health

I learned a new art which is a new hobby

Things I am now working on

Find out if I've got some endocrine/reproduction issues

Figure out how to use my new degree

Gain more money

Kick my new candy addiction- damn candy drawer at work:(

Add more skills to my persona so that can add to my career

Keep jogging- shoot for 5 miles and get back on my work out and eating schedule

Lose 30 + more lbs

Get back to being organized

Take better care of my hair, skin and nails

Not stress out that I'm not losing weight quickly

Every one's support through this blog and others have really helped me focus, especially since I don't live close to my friends and family anymore.

Which brings up how I need to make friends in this town. It's hard but I know I can find a like minded person or I will just have to fly out to be with my friends more. I miss my girls :)

Well that's all I've got. I hope everyone reflects at what they have accomplished this year and not look at all of the disappointments.

Ciao Bellas!

Wow It's been way too long

I cannot believe how long it's been since I updated this blog. I miss you all! I was reading back on my last post and can honestly say that I am in a better mental place. So much has happened...
1) I finished my liquid/ juicing fast. I did it for two weeks and I still juice my breakfast most days.
2) I got a new job! It's a blend of using both of my degress, the pay is OK, but they do give consistent raises so that's good.
3) Job comes with benefits, Yah!
4) Car broke down, but I got another one that feels safer to drive in.
5) Thyroid meds have been working and as long as I stay away from my allergen foods, my face is staying clear.

So those are the positive points of life right now. Now here are the not so good, but things will improve.

1)I have been slacking on my jogging since my work day is ten hours and I have a 40 minute drive each way. On my work days, I will be using my treadmill before I go to bed. I am making myself do that. I still jog on my off days.
2) A co- worker has a hard core candy drawer and I have been hitting it like a fiend. I am going to try to not go in there this week, but I will take things day by day. I get too overwelmed when I think of the big picture of things.
3) I was 184.6 just last week and now I'm at 189.6. I did the same thing week before last. Ugh. I hope that getting back on track will help me shed the weight while it's still water before it turns to fat.
4) Face is not the clearest after me getting it like an addict in the candy drawer. How am I going to handle Halloween?

My new goal for the end of year is to be 160. That seems realistic enough.

I hope everyone is doing well. We still have four months to get our butts in shape!

197, liquid meals and graduation...not in that order

Hey lovely people!

I can now officially say that I am a grad school graduate:) I am happy that I am done so that I can focus on...what else but losing weight:) I have been juicing my meals with having a little protein with each meal. I have no idea about calorie content for the day and that feels nice not to stress how many calories that I ate/drank. I was inspired after watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead to try and fast for at least 30 days. So far I have been fasting for 4 days and have lost 1.5 lbs, which is a huge deal for me since I have an underactive thyroid which causes me to gain weight. So I am now 197 and I think I may be able to see a light at the end of the tunnel. The thyroid meds that I am on are natural so I won't see drastic results like some people do, but I think going natural is worth it in the long run.
The juicing has helped get rid of those post food allergy bumps that I had which makes me happy.
I have been jogging 2.5 miles straight and am trying to up my miles by 0.25 miles every other day.
I am still not happy with the job prospect situation but I hope to be employed again by next month.
Goals next month: New job and 5 lbs lighter.
Now time to get my breakfast juice on.
Have a great day lovelies.

Finally in One-derland

You guys are the first to know that...

I went on the scale this A.M. and for the second day in a row its says 199. I am finally under 200 again. Maybe it’s the thyroid meds I am on, or the liquid fast I did this weekend. Not sure, but I’m glad and I hope that it continues.
I’m kind of tired of getting my hopes up…
I jogged for an hour today with no walking breaks. Yah!

Oh thyroid meds you ask? I found out that I have borderline hypothyroidism which can give the same symptoms of having full fledged hypothyroidism. It causes weight gain (check) inabilty to lose weight despite efforts (check), hair loss (check), always feeling cold (check) among a few other symptoms. I finally found a doctor who listens to me :)

And I am gluten, wheat, corn and some dairy sensitive among a few other random food items. Might help explain why I was getting cysts on my face. They hurt like hell! But since I have changed my diet my skin is clearing up. I do have to be diligent in reading labels. These gluten free pretzels I love happen to have corn starch in them and I broke out recently. Ugh.

School is over in 2 weeks and I cannot wait!

Lurk Mode

I decided to come out of lurk mode and read a few blogs and then post. Reading back on my last blog I am so happy that I have finished that term. I am sure this next one will be brutal but it will be the last one.
Not happy that my weight has stayed the same despite me doing the right things. My face does look a bit slimmer but why is the number on the scale so high?
Not happy with my current job choices. I need to make more than 10 bucks an hour especially since I will have 2 degrees but that just has been making me overqualified.
I was pretty depressed and slept some and have been focusing on other things since stressing will do me no good.
Hope things get better for me. I have a feeling that if I was thinner then I would get the better jobs and then get to live the better lifestyle. But the odds aren't in my favor right now for whatever reason.
